The KCB sponsored Kenya National Rally Championship fourth leg goes to the scenic Taita Taveta County this weekend for what is touted as the most adventurous rally of the season.
The Mombasa Motor Club (MMC) organized KCB Voi Rally 2015 will give spectators a chance to cheer-on their favorite drivers in the wilderness of Rukinga Ranch, a park teeming with Kenya’s acclaimed flora and fauna. This will give them a chance to watch rally cars and wildlife side by side as they explore the beautiful coastal scenery.
At a press briefing to launch the Voi Rally, KCB Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Charles Kimathi, said that the KCB Voi Rally promises to be a perfect outing for local tourists as the rally action will take place in a Ranch that also serves as a sanctuary for wildlife.
“KCB Group is at the forefront in supporting motor sports in the country. Judging from the growing interest that the sport has gained over the years, this partnership has positively impacted on the sport. We encourage our co-sponsors to continue with the same spirit as we etch Kenya in the motor sports world map” he said.
“As a banking Group, we believe in nurturing talent and partnering with like-minded people and organisations to change the lives and experiences of the people we interact with. Business is no longer about making money but also impacting on citizens, households and businesses in a way that transforms them”.
MMC Chairman Roy McKenzie said the event which will be flagged-off outside KCB Voi Branch on Saturday June 6 will see rally cars proceed towards the competitive sections in and around Voi, Rukinga, Maungu Simba, Ndovu and Twiga areas.
“The service park will be located at Maungu-Rukinga Ranch for the event which is co-sponsored by ALS, ICEA Lion, Shell and Toyota Kenya. The programme starts on Friday June 5 with reconnaissance scheduled to run from 6.30am through to 5.00pm. Scrutineering will then follow at Shell Petrol station on Mombasa-Nairobi highway from 9am onwards” he said.
The designated spectator stage brings hair-raising speeds back to Voi Stadium; which is synonymous with hordes of rally fans mainly from the coastal region.
The main rally action will however revolve around Rukinga and Taita Ranches under the management of Wildlife Works Conservancy.
