Long hitting Mumias golfer Dismas Indiza is the proud winner of the third leg of KCB Pro-Am Golf Tour that ended at par 70 Nyanza Golf Club in Kisumu yesterday.
Indiza fired two under par 70 in the fourth round for a total of 273(68, 66, 71, 68) gross which saw him crowned the leg’s champion yesterday afternoon.
Indiza was awarded Sh170, 000 for the feat from the total Sh1 million prize money that was on offer for the 12 players who made the cut on Wednesday.
This is the second time Indiza is emerging top in the series this season having won the opening leg at Nairobi Royal in February.
“I had a bad start in the leg on Tuesday. Things failed to work out. But I kept the faith and turned the leader board on the second day. I have not looked back since then,”Indiza noted with glee.
Indiza had four birdies in first nine (holes one, five, six and nine) and two (holes 11, 15) in the back nine. He was boosted with an Eagle in the tenth. Despite the win, Indiza blamed the rough greens for his misfiring in the putts.
Royal Nairobi golfer David Wakhu emerged runners up with 277(74,65,69,69) gross to pocket Sh117,000.He was closely followed by Thika’s Simon Ngige who carded 279 gross after recording 69,69,70,71 in the four rounds that commence on Tuesday.
Ngige admitted he struggled with the greens following a wrist injury he incurred the other week.
“The greens were bumpy and course very dry. There was no easy ride on the dry fairways,” noted Ngige who pocketed Sh 102,000 for his third place position.
Day one leader Rizwan Charania of Windsor Hotel and Country Club ended the contest in fourth place with280 gross.
“I lacked great play in the front nine but was better in the back nine today (yesterday). I have not been playing serious golf since Kenya Open in April,” noted Charania, who had three birdies in the last five holes.
A golf clinic was held yesterday afternoon at the course ahead of the corporate amateur golf that tees off at the venue this morning.
